Warbler’s Roost Artist Residency Program
Warbler’s Roost is located on a 14-acre property on Deer Lake, 20 minutes’ drive west of South River, Ontario in the beautiful Almaguin Highlands region. It is also only a 30 minutes’ drive west of Algonquin Park and 15 minutes’ drive east of the Old Nipissing Trail.
Warbler’s Roost is now offering discounted short-term accommodation for its four private rooms for select weeks in the spring and fall for artists who want to focus on their work in a distraction-free environment. Artists enjoy clean and private accommodations in a spacious room, bright and large common areas, a shared kitchen and 1.5 bathrooms, free WiFi, kayak/snowshoe rentals are available, on 14 acres of beautiful outdoor countryside and 230 feet of waterfront on Deer Lake.
The proprietors are Darren Copeland and Nadene Thériault-Copeland who live on the property. Their vision for Warbler’s Roost includes an opportunity for families, artists, sports enthusiasts and those just looking for a weekend away from the city, to enjoy the quiet countryside without sacrificing the comforts of home. Warbler’s Roost is more than a place to stay. Darren and Nadene see the property as being a home for creative inspiration and sharing.
Warbler’s Roost is ideal for artists who need a quiet environment to work, meet a deadline, conduct research, collaborate with others or simply to escape urban life. All residencies are self-directed.
Available weeks begin on the following dates:
March 23, April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, Oct 19, 26, Nov 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, Dec 7
Artist Residency Rates are $225 CDN per week plus $50 for an additional guest sharing the same room. Kitchen access is available 24/7. Arrangements can be made for a pick up at the South River bus stop for an additional fee if the artist is travelling via Ontario Northland bus. Arrangements can also be made to take the artist into town to pick up groceries as well.
